I have a question for you guys... I want to put in a radar detector and I noticed a plastic dealie sticking up right in the center of the dashboard, toward the windshield. Is that some kind of sensor that the radar detector is going to mess with?

 

I'm getting good at answering my own questions...

In case anyone else has this same question, the sensor detects sunlight coming through the windshield and adjusts the AC accordingly. I always wondered about that - why not just sense how hot it is inside the car, compare that to what the occupants have set, and tune the AC that way? Seems less complicated than adjusting for sunlight.

 

I think its the remote key fob receiver
