Thanks for the insight on everything, are the turbos guaranteed to go after 100,000 miles or should an unmolested version be ok for a daily driver.

The whole changing turbos doesnt sound too bad dropping the sub frame is a task but it would be much easier than pulling the motor, just takes some patience and know how.

thanks,

Miles
It all depends on how the car was treated by the previous owner. If it was babied you could have a bit left on the turbo's. Liklihood is they'll go very soon.

As for the turbo replacement, it is by no means easy. Even dropping the whole drivetrain instead of pulling the motor is a huge task requiring a lot of experience, tools, and time.

well honestly it kinda sucks that the turbos are so lousy on them. I cant believe they wear out at or before 100,000 miles.

it is actually a quite common occurance that turbos let go, as for that happens in many cars, it is just audi that cost a bazillion bucks to work on..!

At least it's not a second generation RX-7 turbo where you replace the motors ever 50k..!

It's a toss up as far the the turbos go. You will talk to guys that have had them go after 5,000 miles and some that are still on the original KO3 turbos and well over 100,000 miles.

You have to treat them properly with the right warm up and cool down procedures too.
