Default reliability

i currently own an 06 subaru impreza 2.5i....yes, BASE MODEL!im looking at trading it in on an s4, but the high mileage scares me away. i kno its all about how you maintain your vehicle but in a general sense i am wondering, how long do stock tuned s4 motors usually last before a big issue comes up. i would figure with all the "german precision" hype about them theyd be good to 200000miles like b18's n ka24's etc but my friend has an s4 and it seems like his is always in the shop for some kind of either motor or drivetrain problem. for you guys with s4's what problems seem to be a recurring issue over 100000miles if any? this car will be my daily driver as i already have a project car so i dont want to be fixing/dumping $$$into it every month.

thanks in advance for all your help, im a newb to audi!

Do a search, this has been covered 100s of times. If you're looking for a reliable daily driver a B5 isnt the best choice as they do run into some problems.

Do the maint. the factory calls for at what mileage, you should be fine. specially oil changes. only big things really are Turbo's and Cam belt. but those are normal. you never really can tell whatelse will go wrong. The engine itself is pretty bulletproof. Its mostly sensors that will go bad.

the intenals of the car are good, it is always the cam seals or tbb, most of the time. other then that it is just normal stuff for german cars that go out.

The motor it self rarley fails under 500whp. and then you usually see the head bolts cant handle it, most stage3 cars upgrade their headbolts also when going stage3. but for the block and internals. if u plan on having a stage 2 or lower car for DD then you shouldnt be worried about the motor, just worry about wear and tear parts
