Default RS4 Intercoolers in an S4

OK from what people tell me is that the K04 turbos are alot to worry about right now as far as needing other upgrades and not to mention lots of money. But how bout the intercoolers? What kind of gain in hp can you see off them with the stock turbos. How bout with a chip if that would affect them? Thank you and be patient in my time of learning.. haha

Im not sure about stock gain, but i know that on a stage 3 car gains have been around 30 whp. Im thinkin like 20-25 on stock turbos. Dont hold me to that, its jsut an assumption/guess!

Well do what im going to do. I just bought the GIAC x chip, I plan to get an intake, upgrade the BPV's from stratosphere, replace the TBB with either the bipipe or a thicker boot. Im thinking about running a variable methanol injection system. I figure a lot of timing is lost when using 91-93 octane fuel and also a lot of power after heat soak. Methanol injection is a proven solution to both these problems, cooling intake temp. and raising octane levels. So, in theory on F/I cars you would gain power by running more boost/timing and it runs clean. Price List: Chip 400-600, BPV's: 240, TBB $90, Meth. Injection $250-300 (nice kit coolingmist.com) Total: $1200 Pamper the car, oil regularly, and warm up/cool down properly, you might even last a little while.

I wouldn't think the HP gains would be nearly 30 or such...however I could see less power loss from engine heat - but not constant. Also I would look into AWE intercoolers - seem even better then RS4s...there is also a front mount intercooler sold through Achtuning - however its is significantly more expensive and I understand requires some body mods for fitment.

For stage 3 it is absolutely 30 whp. Getting rid of a power loss is basically the same as adding power, cuz it will let your engine work more to its potential.

The RS4 intercoolers will cool much better over the stock ones, a FMIC would be ideal but is there a kit for it? Also has neone tried methanol injection on an S4 to eliminate heat soak, because you CAN get 30whp gain from swapping them on stage 3...but for how long running in 70+ temperatures doing repeated runs....

Dont buy front-mounted intercooler.. Its close to the radiator and you will get power loss.. [:@]
