Default S3 DV advice

Hi,

New to forum and wonder if any1 can assist. I recently chipped my S3 with a superchip and have noticed a significat diff. Had to replace my DV due to wear and tear and opted to go for something diff. Tried a generic super sequential dump valve (atmospheric dump). Sound s cool but getting very confused as i have been told it is better to fit a diverter valve by Audi in SA. When asked why they say because car is designed so. The guys that fitted my generic DV say it's nonsense and purley done that way by factory so it is a more classy ride. Please advise whether either is true and as much info as possible.

The proper turm is a blow off valve. Yes, they are not recommended for your car. When you let off the gas, the extra unused pressure from the turbo is released through the valve back into the intake for burning by the engine. If you vent the gas into the atmosphere you are goign to cause the engine to run rich. This is because the computer has already factored in the extra air coming from the valve. Without this extra air the mixture becomes rich (too much gas, not enough air). While you may never have a problem with the blow off valve you run the potential of clogging your catalytic converters. Plus its just harder on the engine to run rich. The correct valve to be in there is called a Diverter Valve, or Bypass valve.

Thanks for teh quick reply, is it possible to make adjustments so that the mixture does not run as rich? Would the guys from "Superchips" have mapped the epprom to cater to this?
Look forward to your reply

I can't tell you for certain as I'm from the states and we don't even have the S3. You will have to contact Superchips and ask them yourself. I highly doubt that though. A BOV is really not good for your car. Some like the sound it makes, but it is purely for show. I would stick with a good diverter valve and ditch the blow off valve. It's up to you though.
