S4 - Amazing Stat
I have owned a Porsche, BMW, Merc, and Audi. I thought the S4 was the best thing since sliced bread, in terms of sedans which I had to buy due to having a kid on the way, and almost as good as my Porsche that I sold to purchase the S4; In fact, I ended up buying 2 s4's, one for my sis and one for myself.
Now the issue, I kept up with all services, in fact, the oil is changed every 6k and all repair work performed at the dealership. SO how can an 04' ride consumer $25k in repair work and the car only has 97k miles. The ride is great but of the 4 German cars, this has to be the worst vehicle, I have every bought. EVER. I still love to drive it but the wallet is looking thinner and thinner by the day.
How can any vehicle manufacturer be proud of a stat like that?
So contemplating on if I should sell the S4 and go back to Porsche or hate to say it but might even go to a Japanese ride.
Thoughts?

So I have had following happen:
- the A/C compressor fail = 2700
- engine misfiring so replaced timing guides and a full list of things that cost = 6500
- since the engine was down replaced whatever could freaking snap with the timing chain (otherwise engine replacement is 12-14k) which cost = 2500
- both window regulators replaced = 350 each
- inner outer tie rod ends both sides twice = 900
- list goes on with gaskets, inner consoles peeling, xm radio tuner being replaced, seat guides failing, bose radio falling apart...
I get the oil changed every 6k miles so the cost to change oil is included in the 25k and so are the major services required, so the 25k on repairs also includes routine maintenance items....but the entire car is complete failure...
rides great if isn't in the shop...
don't know if I would buy another and if I did I would get the 100k warranty and then extend the warranty afterwards...

sadly though its hard to add common matience practices in with this total in my eyes i see where your coming from oil changes are like 140 bucks but thats part of owning the car but actual repairs your list is hefty for sure but at least you have repalced the engine yet.
I think thats a bit steep the price they charged for the repairs if you can find a good mechanic you can trust the cost of repairs would be almost half of that. Many people believe that taking their car to the dealer guarantees quality work and from experience I can tell you that isn't the case, the majority of dealers over charge for repairs and over state the amount of hours they say it takes to repair the car. I run a mechanic shop and could tell you the amount of times we've repaired vehicles that the dealers over charged the customer without properly fixing them.

the v8 is a beast and sounds incredible... but its just too complex and compact...
