S4 Badges difference?
Ok guys im starting to look towards getting an S as some of you guys have given me advice already.. BTW THANKS. Im confused though. Why are there two different badge types note this one... http://www.audizine.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205666 and this one https://www.audiforums.com/m_833096/tm.htm if you look at the S4 badges on the rear they are different yet they are both 2000's. Is one of them from a newer model? I love the Imola's Badge thats what i want on my S. THANK YOU SO MUCH GUYS!
the one on the back of that IY is the new style found on 2001.5+ cars. he has obviously put that on there since his is a 2000. you can get the badges off ebay if you want to swap them out.
Both of the cars are 2000's or early 01's. The first one has the origional 00'-01.5' badge on the back, but the imola one has the newer 01.5'+ badge. If you look on the grill of them you can see the old S4 badge's. The real way to tell is to look at the gauge clusters. If you look closely they both have 00' style badges on the gauge. Another way to tell the year is to look at the vin # on the drivers side window. The newer S4's will have white faces while the early S4's have black faces for the vin tag. Another way is to look at the MAF. The early have bosch, while the newer O1.5' + have hitatchi. Hope this helps to answer all of your questions man,
Scott
P.S. I like the newer badge with the big S4 rather than the old badge. [&:]

Not to thread jack or anything but look at the license plate of the other S4 in picture number 8 on the IY post. It is the same as mine! [:@]
LOL. Just thought I would point that out. GL on your search.

Also, take a look at the steering wheel and gauge cluster on the dash to look for the newer emblems.... the 01.5 cars have a few things changed that add to reliability.. also the silver mirror housings denote sports package in an 01.5 or newer... Granted all of those things could have been put on as a mod... not as common is possible, the only true way to check is vin and check build date
