Hey guys, I just bought an 01 s4, It has hks blow offs, samco piping, fuel upgrades including high flow pump but I am not sure of what else. They guy said it had giac computer software, my question is, How do I reprogram if I upgrade to bigger turbos. I am not sure how the programing on this car works. I did not get any thing with the car that has any thing to do with giac software. I know I sound like a jackass but could someone help me.

 

fuel upgrades would indicate that it has new turbos. GIAC makes a chip for a stock S4 that ads about 60 HP, they also have a chip for k04's and no fueling, and software for k04's with fueling. It can be a reflash of your ECU or a soldered on chip.

 

More than likely it has an aftermarket fuel pump. Maybe the stock one failed or they were hoping to someday up the turbo's and injectors. Probably a stage 1 car with a bigger pump.

 

Thanks guys, Also what boost do these run stock and what is possible out of the k03's. The guy I got the car from says he did not replace the turbos and I think it is about time( the pass. side makes little noise) I am normally hitting 15 psi at full throttle and have seen it hit 18 according to the gauge. also what turbo options do I have?

 

A stock s4 will make about 7-8 PSI from the k03s, most aftermarket chips make about 15-16 PSI some spiking higher. Thats about all you can expect from the stock turbos. The most popular turbo upgrade is the k04 kit, a bunch of companies make them APR, AWE, VAST, or make your own. You can get the turbos with gaskets, hardware, and inlet pipes so it is bolt on for about $2500, you would be able to run this with your stock fueling on special GIAC software, full exhaust is reccomended. Or you can buy a kit that comes with all of that and injectors, maf, etc for about $5500. If you go full out and buy an upgrade kit you should buy downpipes and exhaust first. You would also want to buy some intercoolers (AWE, Rs4, ER, FMIC) and if you have a MT a new clutch would be in order. All of that will have you somewhere near 450HP on pump gas.

You can also get a custom kit made with garrett turbos but thats going to be at least 3 times more expensive than K04's.

 

Its got full milltech exhaust, rs4 intercoolers, I thing stage 1 giac tuning, an rs4 clutch, and some fueling upgrades but Iam not sure of what other that the pump. How could I tell if the injectors have been upgraded?
