im not saying dont do it yourself.... its always better you do cause you know whats being done... never do the jiffy lube places... ive heard horror stories..

hell my buddy took his camry there the other day.. got it changed.. we were sitting in his garage a day or two later (he hadnt driven it except back home) and i said his hood looked misaligned.. come to find out they didnt put the oil cap back on it.. it was just siting there and pushing on the hood.

but im saying if youer going pure money savings you arent saving a whole lot.. how much is 6 quarts of mobil one?

What about resetting the computer? Is there a need to reset anything onboard? And if so, how can a DIY'er accomplish the task?

Thanks,
B

ORIGINAL: 2k S4

$70 is what the Dealer will charge you!
HA! I wish... They charge $129 at the Dealers here in MIA!

ORIGINAL: 2k S4

NEVER trust the jiffy lube places, they screw up to many cars, and will not take responsibly for it after.

If you can't do it, find a Audi independent, or VW shop, they are more then capable of doing an oil change.
I agree - The only reason take it to the Dealer is cause MIA is crooked as F***, and you can't trust anyone.... I wish I could do it myself, but my Condo won't allow it [&o]

I know if you search on this site there is a DIY for reseting your computer cause i did it. As 2k said changing your oil yourself looks and sounds hard but after you do it and takes you an hour first time you will see how easy it is.

Holtz Audi here in Rochester NY does syn oil changes for 60 bucks.
Factory filter costs 12, 6 quarts of mobile 1 is 30.

I wouldn't dare take it to a quick lube place, but when I am only saving 18 bucks to do it myself, I would rather spend the time driving than disposing of oil.

But geeze man! over 100 bucks for an oil change!! Thats insanity.

Old post, but....

Look in the owners manual it's really easy to reset the service warning. I just did it last week but I forget what I did. I think you hold one button in, turn the key on, and push the other button (system test and mileage reset buttons).

I have always changed the oil on all my other cars so I have the ramps, oil pan, wrenches etc what is so different aboutchanging the oil on an S then say on my American made car? From what I have read so far you have to reset the computer? If so why? and what other tools are needed then the ones I alrady have and have used in the past to change the oil on all my other cars? I guess I dont get why its so hard so I need some more info thanks.
