Default Spark Plug Gap for 2001 S4?

Ok I've been searching around here and Audizine and I'm find so much conflicting information.

I have a set of the OEM NGK PFR6Q plugs and just need to know the gap to set them to. The NGK site says to gap them at .032. Other people have posted .28 .028 .25 and many more.

Which one do you guys gap to?

well it depends.. if you are running stock id say go 0.4 - 0.6 mm (0.016 - 0.024 in)... that is what the manufacturer calls for.. but if you are running a GIAC,APR or any chip then id run a copper plug at about .25 mm.. thats just better to run a cooler plug with a smaller gap when running a higher level boosted engine so as not to chance blowing out the spark with that high boost coming from the intake..

the OEM's are platinum tipped and are gapped about .0020 i believe. You shouldnt touch them because gapping them can actually damage them.

.0020 mm or inches?? either way thats way to short of a gap.. you would barely be able to see the spark...

The numbers are close, but that just proves the gap doent have to be perfect. + or - .005" or .127mm to your desired gap will be fine. The best # to suit your special case depends on how much detail you want to get into. The best is to contact the manufacturer of the said plug. Otherwise a stocker you dont want to care about can have a narrow gap of .022" + or - .005". Its when you get into racing do you increase the gap. I just installed an MSD coil + ignition and it stated a gap of .065", thats more than a 100% increase.

I just hope this is only your first attempt @ getting info on spark plug gapping.

you dont increase the gap to much on a high psi boosted engine or theres possibility of blowing the spark out.. thus resulting in misfire.. which could result in engine damage. and the numbers i posted WERE from the manufacturer... audi.. not bosch or autolite or champion or ngk..
