Default Stage 3 Question (For Future Reference)

What kind of power is an S4 B5 w/ say an AWE/APR Stage 3 w/ K04's capped at? Is it possible to push around 550hp w/ these turbos or would I be better looking at garrett turbos?

K04s are good for 400 awhp with good parts and a good tune. Yeah you can get RS4 intake parts, water/meth, turn up the boost and run on race gas to get that number alot higher but if your talking about 550 HP you best look at somehting a little bigger. RS6's, Tials, Garretts will all get you there but be prepared to either build or blow your motor.

Also an OTS kit like AWE and APR will not get you max power from your k04's. OTS kits dont allways come with big enough injectors or a fuel pump and the tune is generally very conservative. You will need more than an OTS (off the shelf) kit to get the most from k04's

Custom tuned stage 3 guys are getting 400whp like HP said. EPL, ASP, Wicked etc. the OTS kits awe apr are gettinf around 360 whp prob. I will be dynoing my car within a few weeks and I'll let u know. I have Marc's kit. The 3 girls in my car last night were going crazy in it when I did a fast 1-2 shift.
Goooodtimes.
OP when u said 550 hp is that chp because 400whp is 512 chp.. with race gas you'll def be closer to 550.
550 whp you will need rs6's on a really good tune or some GT's.

yeah...it seems with proper tuning any typical stage 3 kit be it k04's or hybrids are about 440whp. That is kind of where the turbos hit their limit...if you want more, youll need to go wih GT's.

Yeah thats what I've been thinking myself. I heard the the k04's are fantastic but have their limits in the 400 hp range. Thing is Garrett GT28RS are some big snails; with big snails there is usually quite a bit of turbo lag. Does anyone have experience running w/ the Garretts? Any people care to elaborate or just speculate?

Does anyone have any experience with SSP Tuning in Long Island? Their website is a little bare at the moment but evidently they tune cars and do lots of custom stuff. They also have a Garrett turbo kit for the 2.7. As far as building the engine up to be sound for some garrett turbos what kind of upgrades should I look looking into? I know I can just buy a 15grand (I f*cking shudder when I say that, 15 grand for a garrett turbo kit, God Damn thats expensive), but I don't want the engine to explode.

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm making a list of stuff I'm going to buy for my Audi, and I want to start pricing and setting money aside so that my goal will be reachable sooner rather than way later. Anyone know where the term disco potatos came from in reference to GT28RS? LOL!!!

Well a couple things...

What do you want to do with this car....is there some reason why you want 600+hp at the crank (aside from bragging rights)...

There havent been a ton of GT cars for the b5 s4... and havent really seen any that have been fully tuned, they have had some issues....Still the fastest cars have been the k04's...because like you said ...lag. I geuss so what are you going to gain from the GT's... you can run a sub 4 second 0-60 and an 11 second 1/4..thats fast enough to compete with any cars on the road... To drop an extra 8-10 grand on something i havent seen improvements out of yet seems silly to me.. Now, thats not to say they dont have the potential, they easily do..i just havent seen it yet.

But if you were to do GT's, id go with the gt25 as opposed to the 28's...the 28's are too big for the car, the 25's would be more appropriate IMO

I see I see... Is there a known cap for these turbos? I feel that I'd like to upgrade the internals of the engine either way (going k04 or garrett) as I would want the tubos to be the limiting factor on my car, not the engine of the car that simply cannot take any more punishment; the uncertainty of blowing the engine just skeves me. I need to have more than 500 hp out of one of these things. My brother is going to be buying a Z06 Vette and I need the audi to **** on him More over I'd like to have an edge on regular stage 3's.

no on the K04's; they are high 400's right? You think it would be possible to squeeze some more juice (aka hp) out of the K04's? I know VAST is looking to get some more feedback on their GTs, so I may be willing to go the more expensive route... I don't know, I'll probably be going crazy w/ engine upgrades about 2 years from now... I just bought the Audi, and my girlfriend is pressuring me for a ring, and my grandfather is in bad shape and may be checking out soon (he is leaving his house to me) so I'm going to have to be able to float the house's taxes and ****... UGH! Why couldn't I just win the lottery? I suppose in two years time there may be some interesting things for Audi tuning that will become available...
