Default Standalone Engine Management Questions

So all I could find was that www.034motorsport.com was a good place to get a decently priced setup... what i was woundering is has anyway used this 034EFI Engine Management ECU they are selling on an 01.5 s4? it says there is a setup for the s4's up to 95.5 that used the 5 cylinder so I am assuming you would have to piece one together? Just a little curiousity... any s4 owners that are running any sort of standalone ems out there?

Isorta asked this same question a few months ago and got the feedback that the "bosch" ECU is plenty programable and no reason to do a standalone engine management. Personally, if there is a known recommendation, or one that isproducing serious or equal hp/tq numbers,I may go that route myself, being that I'm building up a track car, and the reduction of wiring and weight would be ideal. I'm interested to see what people say.

Default RE: Standalone Engine Management Questions

I have a friend who is going to school (UTI in Mass some where) for an automotive program, hes also building an Rx7 at the moment, he wants me to go full out on the s4 (like 800 HP, built motor, new transmission, huge turbos) he suggested a stand alone ECU, he is using Haltech I believe. He did mention his stock wiring harness is some absurd weight im sure ours is too...Ill talk to him a little more about it this afternoon if i get a chance. I havent really pursued it or thought about it much because my needs are pretty much met by the products on the market right now. I came to the conclusiont he stock ECU will work well i can sink my money into other areas...

oh man u have got to be from the south lol. love it.

I was reading a little on AW I read a little about this, and I totally forgot it, haha but I think u had it right where the ecu is great for tuning... I think if u search on AW or AZ u'll find something resent within a month.

people take $5000 honda's and strip them down to nothing but a motor and chassis...

there are only a few people that I have seen period that have done that to an $15000 Audi S4...

So, that is probably the reason for there being less information about stand alones. Stand alones most likely would make themotor perform better, but it would be tedious to tune,it is atough route to go,and using the Bosch ECU is much cheaperwhen there are people out there with proven solutions.
