4.3 is a little tooo fast. i would check that time. it should be more aroung 4.5-4.6 my saleen does around 4.5-4.6 with the same mods as the sti (Pulley swap) a chipped 2.7 S4 should be in the 4.9 range

 

if u wnat to beat him u might need the K04 or get it to stage 2. taht will give u 12.9 in 1/4 mi. That is chipped, APR bi-pipe, snub mount, RS4 intercoolers, and cat-back exhaust.

 

Perhaps the STi is a shade quicker then a chipped S4 - dunnoh - based on published specs one wold think it has a slight margin - same with the EVO - but I haven't seen it (with either). That being said I just trounced a brand new Porsche Carrera 4 S - yup - and it wasn't because of him not trying. I was leisurly pulling up to a light when he squirted in right in front of me. When the light turned he stomped it - as did I. I managed to pull around him with some authority before I backed it off (as it was on a somewhat busy road) - still I overtook and passed him - using everything I had and with a great launch and shifts. One of my finest kills I must say. GIAC X chip is really showing its stuff!

Yeah - I have some pics - I'll try to post some in the next few days - nothing special though - slighly lowered nagaro blue S4 Avant with 19" RS4 wheels - nothing particularly flared out or menacing looking...still it does the job!

 

sweet i just want to see what 19s lowered on an s4 looks like. people say that it shouldnt be done but i wanna do it. how much and what kind of lowering kit do you have?

 

go to this site and look at teh 1/4 mi time u wnat. Then check what the mods that guy has are and you will be able to beat what ever u want.

Don't know - maybe I do eh! (actually I'm estimated low-mid 13s) - regardless - I'm not sure most drivers can match the stats that the mags or manufacturers claim for their cars - but I am very sure that I can match or beat these for cars I own. I think people fail to factor the driver into these things as I can often beat cars that are supposedly faster - as I did yesterday when I handed a new E55 AMG his lunch - again he provoked it (well was showing off his very sweet sounding exhaust and was zippity do dahing between lights) - again on a longer streatch I accelerated right by him ! (and he did his best to stick on my tail for a quite a bit after (on some semi-twisties) - so I have to figure he cared....ability is another matter entirely...and I've also been able to tail 2 different (just prior to latest gen) Porsche 911s in very tight and twisty conditions (also with some straights) where the best they could do is pull a lenght or two ahead before I reeled them in - I was surprised myself - but again drove it hard - what can I say - S4 is a beast! And yeah - i think mine is pretty fast - seems so anyway - and the local shop guys think so...

 

they only way to know for sure which car is faster is have a professional driver drive both cars at the same track, at the same time on the same day. But then the driver could even make a mistake. But u have to relise is the times in mags are profesional drivers. Just like roadhawk said, most drivers cant meet these times, so for ameatur races it will only say who is fast in comibination with their car. A sti driven by person A vs a s4 driven by person B.

 

hey, i have a 00' S4 and one of my boys has a STI, anyway my s4 has an APR chip and his car smashes on mine. sometimes we trad cars for the day and that car is dam fast. the pull is amazing. my other friend has a 03' M3 with intake, and exahust. and the STI beats him in the 1/4 mile like all the time...

 

Hey there Audis4Bill - and welcome. I hear ya - STIs are great little cars and wicked fast. I almost got one but the wife wasn't so enamoured (another "toy" etc) - so went with a nice 3 series (and am very happy with it). Though I have the GIAC X chip now - which seems marginaly beefier then the APR - slightly more sustain on the boost and a tad greater peak - all my sucess against the STi has been with the APR chip I had previously (actually I can swap out the chips). Anyway - in all cases - from a standing start - to mid range punch - my S4 has proven faster then every STi (3) I've been up against. (same with 3 EVOs, M3s, etc) - I've always been very good at getting the most out of cars I drive - so I'm sure it is a factor - and besides the chip I've got a very nice (Apexi) exhaust and a free flow (HKS) intake - Baily Dvs - etc - don't know - though other S4ers have commented that they think my car is unusually quick (again thats with me driving it! - lol) - and I do hate to lose! - actually - I really don't mind - and certainly not to the point to do something stupid in traffic - and I really don't condone street racing per se....just with the way I (often) drive everyone thinks I'm racing them! lol Keep it safe - thats the most important thing....
