Default thinkin s4...

hey guys i currently have a 2003 a4 3.0 6 speed manual, and absolutley HATE the way it shifts... a buddy of mine just picked up a 2001 s4 6 speed and i loved the way that shifts... i found one in my area for sale at a dealership for 13995 and it has 83,000 miles on it, its a 2001.5 looks pretty clean, i am fairly new to audis but love them already, ive been doing my research on the s4 for a few hours now and it seems like the biggest issues are the tbb?? how hard is that to replace and is it costly? and the turbos, my biggest concern is the turbos yeah i understand sooner or later they will need to be replaced but it seems to me like it is a hit or miss as far as how long they go before they blow... i dont exactly have a spare 5 grand sittin around... and as far as upgrades go i am not concerned with anything other than maybe an intake and exhaust system as this will be my daily driver, and plenty enough performance for me for right now... any input would be great as i hope to go look at the car either early tomorrow morning or friday morning before work, one more question, a warrenty would cover blown turbos correct? thanks in advance guys!!

the tbb is around $40?, u can get one at ecs, vast etc, get a silicon replacement. 14,000 is a pretty good deal. make sure the TB and WP are done before buying. Ya its pretty expensive once the turbo's go because of new turbo (ko4's ~$2,000) and fueling (1500-2200) and a new clutch and maybe fw (800-1200) and labor (1500-2000) and other misc parts. so it can add up quick, I KNOW! lol... but its def worth it if u have the money.

damn i love these cars but why they gotta be so expensive to fix,lol my concern is the turbos, the dealer that is selling the car told me the service contract available for that car is a 12 month/ 12,000 mile bumper to bumper that would cost 2400 bucs!! and doesnt cover maintenance... does any one know of any worthy warranty contracts/.

for the extra 2400 you will spend, and probably not get any use out of..... save about 50 - 100 bucks a pay check and there is your "maintenance" funds..... or k04 funds

good luck with the search

and just fyi.... i have bought 2 extra service contracts, when i was younger/dumber.... and never used them, cause most of the time they don't cover shiot

$2500 gets your new turbos and inlets, do the work youself, put in the k04's and chances are youll never have to worry about turbos blowing again.

if the turbos that are in it would last to about 125k then i would be happier than a pig eatin **** if i buy it, because by then id have it paid off... tb and water pump wouldnt bea big deal, the guy i was talkin about that bought an s4 just did his over the weekend so he would help me do mine at around 100k... and the HUGE downfall right now is that the dealer has NO service history on the car...
