thinking of buying an s4, what should i be aware of?
hey guys, ive been toying with the idea of selling my suv and my 5 liter mustang and buying a 2000 s4. im just curious what some common things to fail are and when buying one what should i ask and what should i look for? no stranger to speed, my last car was a 97 cavalier with a built motor, turbocharged, short geared tranny, suspension and brake upgrades, etc etc, so im in the market for something thats fun, comfortable, gotta have a 6 spd, leather, sunroof, heated seats etc etc. as i said, im trying to replace my suv and mustang right and this is one of the cars ive been thinking about. thanks for the help
You're going to get a lot of posts saying look at the FAQ, which is true. But I support your idea in buying an S4, I sure don't regret it. Quattro, Performance, and Quality, how can you go wrong? Turbos is the Biggest concern with the 2.7l T. Other than that, look through the stickies at the top of the S-Line forum. Hope it helps. Welcome!
look for an 01.5 or 02.. most likely with low miles. things to watch... timing belt, TBB, turbo's, wheel bearings etc. some not that expensive to replace, and some expensive... but it's always comforting to know that once your turbo's go and you go stage 3, that you'll have one of the best sleepers.
