Default transmission problems??

ive had my s4 since october..it seems like the gearbox is way too tough on it shifting from gear to gear. feels very very notchy. mostly 2nd and 3rd maybe its just supposed to b like that haha i feel like im a pretty good driver but it does have lots of miles on it. how can i tell if the linkage or synchros , things like that are bad? what are all of your thoughts on the gearboxes for these cars?

Well I had the same problems between 1st and 2nd and I thought nothign of it, untill i couldnt even shift to any of those gears. I found out the the synchros on this trans sucks and had to get it fixed so i just got s Stasis rebuild and have never had any issues since..

There was a guy on audiworld who did a rebuild on his s4 tranny and posted lots of pics and information. Do a search, makes the idea of a tranny rebuild less daunting (and less $$$)

how much did your rebuild cost for your transmission?
