Hi there, I may be trading in my 2003 VW GTI VR6 for a 2000 Audi S4. I was also considering a 2004 Mazda RX8 but i'm not feeling a 4 speed automatic transmission. I will probably be test driving the audi next weekend and was wondering if there was anything I can look out for on the test drive to make sure the cars running strong.

How many Miles? Listen for wheel bearings. Comng from a VR6 you should know if its running strong once you experience those Turbos. Thats all I can really say. Ask for mainance records. Can help more once you give the Mileage.

Just make sure if it has around 100,000 miles give or take that the owner changed the timing belt. because if he didnt, i think it is around 1,000 $ to get that

... not convinced it's a disaster waiting to happen. Only the turbo'd rotaries were unreliable.

 

No offence, but what are you smoking?! the renesis motor is probably one of the worst motors ever made; rotary fans dont even like it. Did you not hear about mazda replacing 1/3 of the rx8 engines due to a serious recall?
