vag com cable questions

vag com cable questions
I just download vag com and really want to use it but i need the usb cable to go to the car to my laptop, does anyone know of any stores that would carry them? i could order online but i really dont want to pay for shipping. thanks

I dont own a VAG yet but this is what i gather.... www.ross-tech.com has the newest USB cable with the license for $250, at that amount $5.00 of shipping shouldn't be a big concern. While you may have downloaded the software it wont work with out the license. I believe the cable from Ross Tech automatically enters the license information, so you can just download the software on any PC and then the cable makes it work. The cables on ebay ($30 + shipping) only work with an older version of VAG on your computer and require you to buy a license through the ross tech website directly.
Someone who owns one: if im wrong please correct me, im also assuming you dont have some sort of crack or license already for the VAG software. There are other diagnostic tools that can be used that you may be able to find at a local auto store but VAG is the best.

you can get the vagcom cable from ecs-tuning and then go on teh rosstech website and download 409 software.... then a little hacking around and i got vagcome working perfectly for me.
