Here is a noise my car has recently been making.

No driveability issues, just the loud noise.

sounds like it could be an exhaust leak. tho my car makes a similar sound too just no where near as loud...my thoughts from everyones suggestions was the power steering pump was going bad..let me find the link to my youtube vid and see if you can hear the same sound

So that was your problem, power steering pump? If you got that fixed did the sound go away? Cause my noise sounds really similar, but mine is coming from passenger side.

 

nah i dont know if its my power steering pump for sure. i havent changed it yet..but thats what i was told it could be...ive been meaning to change the fluid first to see if that will fix it but i just havent got around to it yet

 

Well Im gonna take my car back to the place I just had my work done. A buddy told me last night that they may have accidentally done something to cause the issue, never had it before the work and just thought the extra noise was from the chip until I was told it was not a healthy noise. Ill let you know what they tell me cause it sounds really similar.

 

I have a 99 A4 1.8T. There is a very high pitched noise coming from the engine, but I cannot figure out what it is. The diagnostics test did not show anything wrong. The noise gets louder as the car accelerates. Any help?

 

no clue, maybe a lose belt? try posting in the A4 forum.

Well the problem ended up being a tube that popped off connecting to the secondary air pump. Thats it, no bad exhaust or bad turbo.

It actually shows it in the video, I figure someone should have noticed it, ha!

 

oh ya, check your secondary air pump. duh stupid. lol maybe i should check mine
