Default 2005 S4 power steering leak

Im looking at buying a 2005 S4 4.2. However the dealer informed me that the power steering stopped working all of the sudden. I descovered that it was leaking out rapidly while running. Not quite sure where but i have a good idea where. What would be a possable ballpark price range to repair it? Or would you reccomend steering clear of the vehicle all together?

more likely than not, it's this hose:

Ask me how I know. If you fix it yourself, it's a severe pain in the ***, but doable. If you take it to a shop, it'll be a few hours of labor at best.

The line NEEDS to be replaced. It runs near the exhaust mani and is subject to all that heat making it brittle. I took the hose to a hydraulic line shop and they made me a much more durable line using the metal connector I took off my car. It cost me 68 bucks. The mineral oil PS fluid cost about 25 bucks.

If the previous owner drove it a lot like that, you may end up needing a new pump or steering rack. Now you just doubled or tripled the price of your car.

I would defiantly find out where the leak is before buying the vehicle. A rack in that car would be pricy.
Why did the dealer not fix it?
