2004 A4 1.8T Transmission slipping or not catching while stopping
hey all. sorry to revive an old thread, but i'm now having the same issues as everyone else with the CVT and i was wondering if any new ground has been made on how to fix these things. when i get to about 10 mph when i'm slowing down, the rpm's drop to about 600, then rise quick to about a grand and the car does a little lurch forward. doesn't happen all the time, but i thought it seemed to happen more when i've been driving rather spiritedly and then came to a residential area with a lot of stop and go. anyway, i still have an extended warranty on my car ('03 A6) and i'm hoping they'll pay to have the tranny replaced if it comes to that. but does anyone have any more info on this? it never wants to do it when i bring it in to the dealer, so they can't even call the warranty place to make the recommendation to have it fixed. please help! thanks...
and now for the double post. welcome all flamers.
anyway, i also wanted to mention that this never happens when i'm in manual mode. maybe that might shed some light on things and make a lightbulb or 10 go off... and you know what sucks?? all growing up, any probs i've had with other cars, people will say, oh, thats not a beamer, or oh, thats not a benz or an audi or whatever, so you have to expect there will be things wrong with it. but now i have an audi, and it seems like we're being forced to deal with something thats incredibly embarrassing. whenever i have people in the car, i gotta make excuses like, oh, i guess my foot slipped off the brake, or something else as lame. then it happens about 8 more times. maybe we can get a petition going or something? i can't believe they would just have people accept this kind of glaring defect, especially from a company that prides itself on its engineering. any ideas?
