Default 01 A8L Transmission Slipping

today the transmission started slipping and then clunked into the gear.

thought maybe the fluid was low. brought it to tranny shop and leveled the vehicle and then check the fluid. it was full, but the fluid was brown and murky.

for now, seems that the tranny slipps between 1 & 2, but works fine on the freeway. parked and will stay there for a while to figure this out.

anyone have ideas of the commonality of this, and if it was major or not to get it done?

should i sell the vehicle, or buy a new tranny if necessary, or have it fixed?

any help is appreciated.

if there are questions to ask me that could clear it up more, please ask away.

hopefully you got the fluid changed while it was there!

as far as i know, the tranny in those gen a8s are failure prone in their later years.

if the fluid hasn't been changed-do it and see if it smooths things over a bit

i parked it.

going to have the pan dropped to see if it is going to be a 5-700 fix, or rebuilt.
