Default This sounds stupid but. . .

This is my first Audi and my first turbo, and I need some help.

What is the proper way to launch my quattro with a turbo? Obviously there is turbo lag, so I wouldn't just punch it.

The car is an Allroad with a 2.7T tiptronic with an APR chip. From a rolling start I'm pretty happy, but from a stop it's unimpressive.

I've tried "brake standing" to get the boost up for launch, but at about 2500rpm I can't keep the car from moving.

someone help!!

You have an automatic 2.7t. You have stock ko3's. You have no turbo lag. They are spooled almost instantly. Just floor it.

Not entirely true. The tip lags for a good second or two before the turbos hit. This effect can be lessened by loading the car while on the brake, but I wouldn't recommend doing this very often.

You probably have more turbo lag because you have one turbo. The Bi-Turbo helps to reduce lag.

actually the biturbo would have more lag than a stock 1.8t, bc there is only 1.35l spooling each turbo, instead of 1.8l. But either way, it is close to none.

Exactly... The reason it's called a sequential system is just that... The turbos spool in sequence.

The smaller turbo spools quicker because its smaller mass needs less exhaust gasses to spool it up... Yet a smaller turbo cannot create the high end power like the bigger turbo.

The larger turbo needs more gasses, so it's doing it best to spool up. By the time it spools up the smaller turbo has already begun, and from the mid to high range power, the bigger turbo takes over.

It's pretty simple.

how do you figure....the s4 has the exact same turbos as the a4, and they are both the same size, so how can 'the smaller turbo handle the low end and the bigger turbo handle the top end' ......?
