USB Vagcom Help. Port Found. Interface not.
Hey
First off this is the cord I bought. ( Click CORD)
I am using shareware version 409.1
When i go to test the cord, which is a must before you can use the program, I get this message.
Port status: OK
Interface: Not Found
What can i do here? Ive tried to find help online but i just cant. No info has proven helpful.
I have reinstalled drivers 3 times. The drivers are from ross-tech.
Any help would be greatly appriciated. I posted in the Ross-tech section of vwVortex. It was literately locked in 3 minutes because it is an "aftermarket" interface and not ross-tech.
frikin ****.
Thanks guys

I have the same cable. It will work. If you want full functionality of VAG-COM you will need to buy a license. I just use it to read and clear the codes. I borrow a ROSS-TECH cable from another forum member when I need to do more.

The driver came in the box with the cord. I'll see if I can find it when I get home.
The cord uses a COM port emulator. It doesn't work like a true USB device.

My apologies if you tried this, it took me a couple attemps to figure this out so I'm doing it anyway.
What happened when you "installed the drivers"? I'm going to guess the program copied them to a folder on your computer and that's it. Find out which folder because I think you actually need to install the drivers in Windows. Try this if you haven't:
Connect the PC to the car with the cable
Start-->Control Panel-->"switch to Classic View" if you aren't already (look on the left side of the window)-->System-->Hardware tab-->Device Manager
If the USB cable is appearing there with the yellow exclamation point warning, right click it and select "update driver". You may want to try this anyway even if it isn't.
Don't let windows connect to the internet, just get to the next screen. you want the advanced option to install from a specific location. Click the browse option and navigate the popup window to the folder you "installed the drivers". When you select the folder, click OK and run with it. The test should work after that.
Even if this isn't your problem, it may save someone 5 minutes in the future. I'd like those minutes back...
