it's mostly a crock IMHO. It drives me nuts when people come on a forum and bitch about a shop, part, service call with out first dealing with the problem to it's conclusion. To do that a phone call to gmg would have been in order. Where things would have been explained in detail. Taking a well known shop to task over something as silly as a price quote and saying they lied to you is just assinine. many times shops have to decifer information to get to a heart of a question. That can lead to miscomunication, all by having the best intentions. I really think you stepped out of line by not reaching a conclusion with this.
Grouse... Thanks for your input..
I want to make it clear, we are dedicated to 100% customer service and offering the best when it comes the quality of work we provide..
As you mentioned this could have been easily resolved with a phone call and a question.. I am at the shop everyday and often late at night..

Ha ha, If you want cheap labor and no BS go to 2bennett in Davis CA. It will save you a boat load of cash and they are way cool. Just a word from the wise. Oh and GMG you need to start thinking about some professionalism be above your ego and let some one post a opinion they have about your company. To bow down to that level is sad and did you ever learn about business ethics. If I were you I would have gotten a hold of that member and comp him an hour of labor to satisfy him so you can get the rest of his cash. Anyways, 2bennett is a bad as shop and hope fully they hook me up with a free hour of work for this promo.

It's rediculous to assume that a shop should comp a charge, or not charge for work.
No I refered the place because they do good work there nationally known, published and they do labor for Cheap. When I say cheap I mean less than the I have ever been quoted for an audi. I send all my co workers there from the city and I have never been comped, asked to be comped. I refer people there because there a legit race shop the have all the aftermarket parts in house and the charge around 80 a hour. Thats why I say go to 2bennett. It is a drive up to Davis but I would give them a call. If you actually read what I stated, it was that I hope they comp me for the good words. But I was joking I said to go there strictly for the p[rice and quality. I actually do all my own work unless I have to weld.
But to follow up, I don't know where you went to business school, but if you have the chance to bring in $1000 worth of labor and you have to comp 1 hour you are still recieving 90% of your revenue and its better than 0% of the revenue they brought in by just being a jerk. The hour of labor you lose can be made up anywhere including how long it takes you people to do the work or the cost for parts he doesn't have such as cambers spacers or any other suspension, needs he might have. If he has to replace the timing belt soon you just made youself another $500 plus the mark up for parts. So I would try and keep a client that has a very expensive car that has very expensive repairs for $100 because you will make 10 times that in on visit.
Thanks
Mac

Fabrice, why did you tell the customer that chipping his car would entail soldering a chip onto his ECU? Did you not know whether the A3 required a flash or soldered in chip so just decided to go with the flow and since the labor was probably the samemake the customer feel likehe was getting his moneys worth.
Just unsure why you wouldn't inform the customer that his car does not require a soldered in chip but a reflash.
By the way, love theway you red Audi A4 looks with the RSL's. Ordering a set from my S4 this week. What's can you sell a set of these wheels for?

I went to GMG a few month back to get an estimate on my car. The car would not stop wobbling past 40mph. It seemed like a serious problem so i wanted a reputable shop to get a professional estimate. They said i would have to leave it overnight because they were busy preparing for a car show. and that they would call me by the next day. I never got a call the next day or over the weekend so i called them on monday to check up on the progress. They gave me an estimate that came out to $2800 for some axle parts, oil lines, and a buncha hours of labor. There was no way I could afford such a repair so I had to come in to pick it up. On top of that they charged me over $110 for the labor of getting an estimate. I have the reciept and the estimate to prove it if you'd like. I took it to a european shop in huntington beach who called me 3 hours later and told me my rack n pinion was broken. He ended up working overtime on my car at no extra charge and had my car ready by the next day and it only costed me $380 for a rack n pinion and some other small things. He even cleaned my air filter and checked up on the rest of my car. That's just my review of what happened.
I have to admit GMG has one of the nicest facilities I've ever been to with nice cars on display. I guess that's where all our repair money goes to.
