blau and ECS both have reputable kits

we don't need any special tools for this. as long as you have basic sockets, some torx bits, some hex sockets, and a breaker bar we should be fine.

Word don't buy into the hype about the cam lock tool and all that other bs and I also highly recomend Blauparts.com great kits easy to work with and usually cheaper then ECS, just my 2 pennies.

yeah, I was actually talking about that very thing (cam lock tool) when I asked the question. I just thought it was necessary, so thanks for the info.

the trick there is to line up the tick marks on the upper gear and to make a second tick mark for lining up the bottom gear. that way, you can line them up again if they move. it's really not that big of a deal. I actually had to manually line these marks up after putting the belt on one tooth off the first time. it's easy enough.

o i know its just that when u go to a mechanic they try to scare you when i went to get my car scanned with vag one time, which they charged me like 60 bux and said they could not get it to work, i was just curious about the tb job what it all involves they of coarse where saying that it has 5 valves which i knew but they were also saying ho if ur off by one u can blow your motor up and will only charge you 1500 to do the job

hahahaha that's such a load of crap!

your motor would not blow up. it would run a little funny with the timing either retarded a bit or advanced a bit by one tooth, but I'm sure it would still be driveable. I'm sure they're just looking for work like everyone else, but at 1500 bucks for a tb job, they're not going to get it.

I'll do it for 1400 though. I'm just saying..
