Default Spacers or not???

Hey everyone, I want your opinion about something... i recently bought some Hurricane (Vagare Luxury Wheels) 18in mounted on 235/40ZR18. I want the wheels to be as large as the car or about a 1/2in larger. I haven't tried the wheels yet but a i guess that even on 235 it won't be a 1/2 larger so spacers would be a goos solution. Spacers would be for esthetic purpose only and not for performance. Though i've heard spacers aren't so safe even if they are hub centric.... is it true in my case ??? So would it be a good idea to put spacers on to get a great look ????

I've got a 98 A4 1.8T 2WD

I would like my car to look like the 4th picture from behind (mine wouldn't be dropped though haha) ... are spacers the solution or 235tires would be wayyy enough??

Thanks!
