Audi A3 8P 1.4 tfsi Pulsating Acceleration
Hi,
My 1.4 TFSI with 125 horse power got chipped to 150 hp. The car is 3 years old and has about 45k km.
Ever since when I floor at around 2500 RPM the car seems te accelerate in pulses. U can feel moments of more/less power. As soon as he gets above 3000 RPM he's going very smooth till the end.
This is pretty annoying in 4th/5th/6th gear because these are the moments u will floor to bypass another car for example. And these are the gears where it takes the longest to go from 2500 to 3000 RPM, so there is more time to feel it.
In 2nd gear I don't really floor all that often, but the revs go fast enough to 3000RPM or higher so I don't really find it annoying.
My tuner said it was probably the diverter valve, so we replaced the valve with a stronger Audi OEM DV and nothing changed. After that they recommended to install a Forge DV because that would probably fix it.
At the moment the Forge DV is installed in my car, but the problem is still there. Could there be another cause for this? It might be that the valve is not working correctly because the kit was for 1.8/2.0 TFSi engines and the connection with my intake manifold was different.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I did some testing with vag-com measuring the turbo boost and got the results I was expecting. When I floor at 2000RPM the turboboost is going from 1900-1600 and back a few times. Above 3000-3500 RPM the car is going smooth.
Road wasn't long enough to test in 6th, but expect the same results as for fifth gear.
It's easier to see in high gear because you are longer in the problem range.
Maybe someone can help me out identifying the problem with this information?
3th gear floor at 2000RPM

4th gear floor at 2000RPM

5th gear floor at 2000RPM

Amazingly enough I still own that car haha. But I have not driven it really in the last 5 or 6 years as my wife is driving it every day and I have another car.
So I really don't know.
I also don't remember if it ever was fixed, I think I placed a Forge diverter valve and that might have helped, but I'm not sure.
A bit later the car went in to Audi for Warranty on a broken control box (lights didnt turn off) and I honestly don't know if the stage 1 was still there afterwards or if it got reset at Audi, since I didn't drive the car that much anymore.
