Default vaccum line

I have a 98' 2.8 and the insulated (braid over rubber hose) vaccum lines are crumbling. I noticed a vaccum line had disconnedted and went to reconnect and it just crumbled. I checked other lines and they are all in the same conditon. Some of the small lines are made of a plastic (semi-rigid) with insulation, What are these for? Where do i purchase the insulated rubber hose? Should i just go through and replace all? Some of the lines run to some pretty inconvienent spots. The engine seems to be running fine without. Please advise.

you can go to an auto store and just buy some new hose. it dosent have to be insulated. those lines are known to fall apaprt like that. you should try to replace the ones that are broken becuase they all do something to help the car run or the wouldnt be there in teh first place

I was hesitant to use regular hose since some of the lines will be a pain in the *** to replace and do not want to replace again. I plan to keep the car for app. 3 more years. do you think uninsulated will make it that long? It gets pretty F-in hot in there.

don't just use any hose for a vac.line.normaly they are to soft with the heat under the bonnet and they will collapse on you.

try to get some 3.5 mm ID silicone hose. They are more durable in my experience. works for most of the smaller vac lines.
