I parked my 2007 A4 Avant and as I removed the key and began exiting, the hazard lights began blinking quickly (about twice as fast as normal) and there was a high-pitched and fast beeping coming from somewhere (seemingly the rear) inside the car. A couple of sessions of lock-unlock and off-on stopped it eventually. Then a couple of days later it happened again. Anybody have any ideas what is going on here?

The issue seems to be an alarm software problem, solved by an upgrade.

I should have found this before posting; sorry for the unnecessary post (although maybe this will be helpful to somebody else).
