Sorry for the book:

Driving home from work yesterday I stopped off at a store for a minute. When I got back to my car and starting it up, the hazards started flashing and the car started beeping. The flashing hazards were actually at a faster rate then the normal hazards, and the beeping wasn't the horn, but was more of a computer beeping sound coming from the trunk area.

I didn't think it was my car at first but it was. After a minute, the beeping stopped and then the flashing, but then it happened again while I was driving home, the flashing/beeping stopped and then started again. When I got home and shut the car off, the flashing and beeping was still happening.

Does anyone know what may have caused this, and what I should do?

sounds like you have an alarm problem. if you dont have a vag-com to get into the alarm system to see if one of the triggers is setting it off then i would take it to the stealership or an independent repair shop.

 

If the battery in the alarm horn is dying you get those types of symptoms. The battery isnt available serperatly. You have to replace the whole horn.

Man i wasnt aware that the alarm horn had a seperate battery.
