Default Downpipe and cat-back exhaust interest?

I have a good friend who does immaculate exhaust work. He built me a downpipe for my Volvo that couldn't have fit better. I am planning on having a full 3" exhaust system made for my 2002 Allroad 2.7T.

Would there be any interest in these? I'm not sure of price at this time but it will be competitive using stainless steel tubing and V-band flanges around the cats and the other connections necessary. The options could include a 3" to 2.5" cat-back also. Muffler options have not yet been decided but I will probably be looking at Magnaflows. All welds are hand welded to the quality shown in the picture below. Bungs for the O2 sensors would be included and additional ones optional if desired.

Post here with interest. I should be getting pricing once the item is made for my car and we know exactly what is involved with the number of welds, v-bands, and such.

Here is a sample of his work - a downpipe for a Volvo 850 Turbo.

The Volvo sounded amazing but it wasn't a true dual exhaust, just dual outlet. It had a great throaty sound. I expect this exhaust system to be moderately loud depending on resonator/muffler use etc.

I saw that Milltek and thought that a custom one should be less.

Allroad has true dual exhaust,so we need 2x the kit(picture shown above)?

Note the exhaust above is for a Volvo 850 and is just the downpipe.

I've been researching both APR and Milltek, and was told today that Neuspeed might have something as well.

Frankly, a good portion of the cost of converting is the installation of the downpipe/cat or piggie. Still, if we can get a full stainless exhaust done for a decent price, I'm interested. I am, of course, concerned about violating my CPO warrantee, which it mitigated in the name brands by lifetime warrantees (at least on APR and Milltek)

No matter what, I'd like to know what happens.

Cheers,

john

I'll keep you all posted. I should be getting started on the fabrication of this within the month. From the looks of things it looks like it could easily be installed by a single person within 40 minutes or so once made. Being that all connections will be v-band makes the install a great deal easier.

I have no doubt that this exhaust may interfere with your warranty as it won't look OEM. I hear the warranty people are pretty picky.

Does anyone know how Magnaflow mufflers sound on this engine? Any other suggestions on mufflers or exhaust tips?
