Default Enabling Daytime Running Lights on US model

Has anyone out there ever managed to enable DRL using the foglights on a US AllRoad by changing the country code (i.e. make it Canadian), or any other 'soft' programming change?

I've read there are pre/post 2002 issues with VAG programming (can't/can do). I have an '04, so I'm assuming that's a possibility, and I want to avoid physical mods as it's still under factory warranty.

My insurance company offers a reasonable discount for this feature ($70 p/a), and of in my experience it is safer, especially around dawn/dusk.

Any details; who/what/where, degree of difficulty, tools, cost, warranty implications or other potential consequences of being a Canadian in the US

I'm in the NYC area.

TIA

I dont think a simple coding change will work on your car. The 02 and newer info your seeing is for the a4. You change the coding of the 09-central electrics control module to canadian and it turns the foglights on when the key is in the on position. The a6 is wired differently and requires a complete rewire to get daytime running lights.

I have a 2003 Allroad which I purchased in Cleveland, I live in Nova Scotia. (yes it was a great road trip!!) In order to meet Canadian standards I was required to turn on the daytime running light. I can say with great certainty that at least the 2003 model requires an under dash rewire, which I had done at the dealer. Cost me $200. I also discovered that when you try and convert the speedo to metric.....everything converts except the clock and date in the tach....it goes all wonky...so Audi suggested I replace the cluster!! Imperial its then!! Hope this helps.

Cheers
