Key Remote Re-set?

Key Remote Re-set?
Okay, so I passed the IQ test that masquerades as the key fob battery replacement. Now, with a new battery, it's still not working.
Does any of you know how to re-program the remote without using the VAG? I saw on some Canadian forum about one key in the ignition, another in the door, then swing a dead black cat around your head three times or some such thing. Frankly, I don't feel like driving an hour to the dealership for them to push a couple of buttons that I can probably push just as well.
Cheers,
john

RE: Key Remote Re-set?
Well, it worked...in a way. Now neither remote works, but the lights do blink when the (previously only not-working) key was in the door while the other(previously working) one was in the ignition.
Maybe if I do everything backwards it will work......but at least I know that the new battery works.

RE: Key Remote Re-set?
I can't win with my keys. My AR fob needed to be reset a couple of times, but I'm not sure how in the he!! I reset it. I screwed around with it until it suddenly worked. My wifes key for the AR won't work at all. My key for the A4 doesn't work at all. I think having two fobs on a single chain cancels them out or something.
You think audi would dispense with all of the gimmicks involved in programming these things and just have the damn thing program when you start the car with it.
