Default B6 dvd install troubles

so far i have got the screen powered up, due to the problem that there is no ignition wire in the harnesses i currently just used the + on my power harness. I was told that in order to have the radio turn on as the stock one did, you have to tap in to your actual ignition wire from under the steering column (is there any truth to that or is there another way, i also checked the fuse box and there is no ignition fuse labeled on the box). I ran into the problem with the bose amp as well, i searched quite a bit but can not find the page again on how to use the peripheral line convertor or whatever. If anyone has a tutorial or maybe somewhere where it explains how it would be of great help. Should i be using the bose intergrationharness instead of the line convertor or can you get away with the convertor. or maybe i have it hooked up wrong and im not signaling the amp with the right wire. im using the kenwood ddx8017 and i had the bose symphony 2. thanks jim

also which wire controls the bose amp is it the one labeled bose on the power harness or is it the switched 12+ on the line out harness(same section as teh speakers and that common ground, it is the white wire)
