Wow, good find a3_yuppie!

I looked at the APR boost graphs and it matches what my boost guage reads. I can't believe REVO boosts +20lbs on 91 [sm=insomnia.gif]

Now, I would've went REVO but I liked the idea of having all my performance parts from one company rather than the grab and go setups. After reading this and the comments it seems APR or REVO is the best way to go.

I can believe that boost level on the REVO, my turbo zings now as it spools up. How long do you think I'll get from the stock turbo with that kind of boost? That scares me. If it blows, then I hope it happens before 50k miles! I think that at 50k it will be time for the big turbo upgrade.

Mod bug bites can hurt sometimes.

Yea... 20lbs is crazy. with my APR chip I get 18lbs max. Invest in a boost guage, its the safest way to monitor the condition of your turbo. Its easy to install too... so easy that I'll even do it for you for some [sm=icon_guiness.gif]

I've been looking for a boost gauge for a while. I initially liked the vent mounted one, but not so interested anymore. Not sure where I'd want to mount one, so I haven't purchase it yet. I like the lights that go inside the tach, but it is a little expensive and I don't want to drill into the gauges on a new car. I'm willing to take suggestions though. I definitely agree on the boost gauge. I'm wondering what the boost was hitting on the 93 octane program?

Yeah, at 20 psi I definitely would be worried about the longevity of the stock turbo.

Re: turbo replacement, if you look at A3Night's "A Good Read" post, which describes the 2.0T FSI engine, the stock turbo design has BOTH an oil feed and a coolant feed. This was confirmed by my service advisor at Audi Mission Viejo when I asked him about turbo timers and whether I need to let the car cool down after I park. He says the coolant feed helps the turbo cool down quite a lot faster than turbos without that feature. (He says to just take it easy in the minute before you park if you have been driving hard.) I am not sure that there are any aftermarket turbos out there with this coolant feed feature, so a proper replacement turbo may not be so easy to find, even if you want to spend the $$$ and effort to upgrade the turbo.

I have been doing a lot of research to catch up after I got my A3. I am leaning towards the APR program right now, even though it may be somewhat "detuned". Like I said I am all for reliability at the expense of the last few % of hp and torque. Chef, are the guys at Eurocode pretty knowledgeable? Who can I talk to?

The guys at Eurocode seem very knowledgeable. They have some sweet projects there every time I go. They had a RS6 with a 200 shot NO2 parked there over the weekend. The best guy to talk with is David and the number is 310-379-3876. The do REVO, APR, and Neuspeed tuning.

Sounds good, although I am inclined to hit 5000 miles and do my first service before chipping, as advised by another forum member in another post. Hopefully that will give every company some time to further refine their programs. Re: my earlier post with my "good find", I do like the fact that the poster of the referenced post found the APR program "very smooth". Smooth is good.

Yuppie,

I waited until 5k miles before I chipped my car too. It gives you time to understand the car and work out any bugs from the manufacturing and break-in the engine, softly. I agree about waiting, just wait until you do chip the car. WOW!!!

On the REVO chip website it says that in order for you to get the ECU upgrade for an Audi A3, you have to send your ECU to them so they can do it. Is this the only way to get a REVO chip for my A3 or can I do it at some other places? Here's the REVO site.

There are local dealers available in certain areas that can do the reflash in about 15 minutes. I thought the web-site provides locations of local dealers. Not sure where you are located, but worth checking it out. Think......ZOOM, ZOOM!!!
