M is for economy, S is for sport, your car wont shift till almost redline in S. M is for manual. All dsg's will shift to 6 gear by 30mph, it is to save gas. Plus the transmission will actualy learn your shift patterns and how you drive.

Didn't your sales man teach you anything about your car. I would go back and tell them to teach all the little things about your car.

There is nothing wrong with your car, DSG is like no other transmission in the world, it has over 50 patents becuase of all the newly designed parts. O yea if it ever breaks it cost about 5,000 to fix, and thats just for new clutches lol.

Thank you all the advise. I ended up taking the car back to the dealership and they tested it and told me that it runs normally and the car "has to get to know my driving style".

Just thought I'd provide a little input a few weeks later. Firstly, thanks everyone for your ideas and thoughts. The lag seems to have had to do with the break in period. Now that I have crested 1000 miles on the car the lag is almost entire gone. Maybe it's a safety thing for the new engine, maybe it's the computer "learning" my driving habits, whatever the case it appears to be an artifact of the car being really young.

Thanks again!!
