CAI Water Troubles?
Just wanted to get an idea if anyone who has installed a CAI has had any water problems with flooding. One of my friends had a CAI previously and basically blew his turbo when he waterlogged his CAI during a storm. He told me to be a little wary.....
Anyways, I know the Carbonio is covered but the better ones from EVOMS and such are wide open and I'm thinking there may be a problem with sucking in alot of water.
Any feedback would be appreciated...
Cheers

I had a similar discussion today with a friend who has a VW MKIV 1.8T for which most some CAI are made to go through the side panel and into the wheel arch. Fo me I would never do that as Chef stated, more prone to water. I just installed the EvoMS CAI and I must say for water to get into that it has to be some tricky water considering it is in the engine bay and has a nice shielding box around most of it. I think if the CAI on any engine is in the engine bay you are not likely to get hydrolock (water in the engine from CAI).
There are water relief valves available, but I have no idea if they really work. A demo shows them trying to suck solid water and the valve works. I guess I'd still be concerned about partial water uptake.

If you simply take in air above the wheel wheel (in the engine bay for example) you'll do fine.
