My vote is to use the rental car to visit friends for the weekend who happen to live 1000 miles away...

Chef, glad you are getting your car back, at least half of it, but at least it is the better half!
I tried spotting you in LA, but found no A3 driving around. The rental yunday (I don’t even know how to spell it) gave me plenty of time to spot people… Man this too slow. Anyway, it seems like this hype of A3 being all over the place has being exaggerated... I spotted only one ‘station wagon’ A4. See you maybe on Sunday!
Sorry but I wasn't driving around this morning, although you could have called and I would have raced you in your rental car. I work next door to them at LAX. Any way, my car is only half full, so I feel obligated to fill her up with 100 octane since she's been away for so long. At least mechanically the car is still rockin'!

Cheers!

Thanks.

I decided to go outside and take a picture of the front where they fixed the car. Here you go:

Sorry, the first image was WAY too big.

Chef, I commisserate. People have no standard of care, no sense of pride in their workmanship / work product any more.

Sure, we can race... I hit the accelarator this morning to change lane and ......... wait for it..... wait for it... here it is ... vrrooooommmm .... it finally launched just in time for me to hit time as the traffic caught up....I love rentals...

Probably the only reason we could make itto Long Beach from LAX safely is because you were NOT driving....

I travelled with a colleage of mine and he chose the car.... Next time,I know better! But in his defense the choices were limited. Next time,I will go with Hertz, they have the A6 quattro...

Good luck to you Chef, a good man deserves a good car so I will let you swap my rental for your damaged/used/abused A3 this week-end. I heard they have a great chip upgrade for this Yunday (or whatever it is called). You cannot sayI never offered you a good deal!!!

Cheers

Thanks Olivier!

I'm sure that your offer is from the kindness in your heart, and I appreciate that, but I'll stick with the beaten up A3.

Actually, I had a boost to my spirits today on the way home. I had the windows down, sunroof open, driving spiritedly, enjoying my new ride and then came to a stop light. The guy next to me in a new Camry asks if I have the stock engine in my car. I say, well yeah. He then asks what the hell I did to it? I remark, a little of this and that, then the light turned and I was gone. He was just drooling at my broken down Audi. Another disappointed Japanese car owner.

Cheers!
