Default Headlight Adjustment

Does anyone know how to adjust the headlights? I checked the manual and there is no guidance at all. I hesitate to have the dealer do it as I am sure it will be at least $25.00+. My headlights are the ordinary type, not the HID.

Thanks for any help.

With the hood open, you'll see a white-ringed flat **** on top-center of each headlight assembly to adjust vertically, and another identical **** on the outside edge of each assembly (next to the fender edge) for lateral movement. Sorry, I don't have my car with me today, or I'd include a picture. These are the only white items in the vicinity - good thing, so that they are easier to find in the dark (when headlights are most likely to be adjusted). They do not require any tools to turn.

The beam moves upward when the vertical adjustment is turned counter-clockwise. Don't know about the lateral adjustment direction, but I'd guess that counter-clockwise would move each headlight outward (away from center). The adjustment is pretty insensitive (a full turn of the **** doesn't move the headlight very much).

I only remember all this because I just tweaked my (non-HID) lights last night.

Thanks dfrost for the info. I give your instructions a try. My headlights are out of adjustment big time. Low beams spotlight the road to only about 25 feet ahead and to the left as well. The highs are good for distance but the right headlight is directed to the left too much.

Thanks again.
