A6 Headlight Adjustment
Head light adjustment.
I have a new, to me, 1999 A6 Avant, 70K, excellent condition.
The left headlights point down about 8 feet in front of the car.
My mechanic, who I believe is good, gave me a little, white plastic nut with some gear teeth on it. It looked like it was striped on the inside. Said he couldn't aim the headlight higher. dealer said I need a whole new headlight mounting, about $700.
Is there anything else I can do? Anyway to fix or jury rig this without a whole new mounting?
Thanks.

Well, beyond the obvious shimming between the bottom of the headlight and the top of the bumper cover, I would look into a junkyard unit. Try Shokan, unless you have a local yard with Audis in them.
