Help! Annoying noise??
I have about 1500 miles on my 3.2 a3. From the front driver side a new noise has begun. I tend to hear it when travelling at low speeds (like in traffic). At first I thought it was coming from the steering column. Then I thought maybe from the A.C., as in from the vents as it has a little echo to it as if it travelling thru them but if I cover them with my hands I can still hear it. I also thought that it could be from the front suspension but it doesnt seem to worsen when travelling over bumps. I am gonna bring it in to the dealer but I was just wondering if anybody has heard of anything from this front driverside area. Its such a hard noise to descibe. I guess it is a intermittent spring/creaking noise that is really annoying and nothing like any other noise that one would normally hear. Any advice would be appreciated! It's driving me nuts!
Not that anyone cares, but I got the problem fixed! It turned out that the retaining clip for the wheel well liner was distorted, causing the noise to carry up into the main cabin. Not a big deal but annoying while driving, nonetheless! The service dept. fixed it quick-smart and all is working well again. I assume the clip got distorted as a result of smoething hitting it like miscellaneous debris. So really it was a matter of bad luck in my opinion.
