Default Hey, guess what...

I've made this post for ryandlor, since he hates the slow down on the forum.

I'm loving the coilovers and made an appointment on July 5th to get my alignment done. BUT, I'm alsohaving them replace the brake lines with stainless steel, and the pads with the Mintex Red, and racing fluid. I debated long and hard about the rotors, but just decided to keep the stocks for now. I don't track the car and often don't run the brakes continuously hard anyway. The only rotors Zimmerman have are cross-drilled, and I've seen those crack and break too often. Anyway, I'm sure that the brake power will be much improved and the cost is only a few hundred bones. Rotors are always easy to buy later if desired.

So what have you done lately???

What's on your list???

Cheers!

Well I'm just a newb still, but I'll go ahead and chime in. I took delivery of my A3 (lava grey, 2.0T, DSG) on June 2. I've been meaning to take some pics, but it just hasn't sat still long enough yet! I waxed it on Monday and intended to snap some pics, but it's been raining all week here. I am absolutely in love with this car! I find myself sneaking peeks at it during the night whenever I pass the door to the garage.

I've installed a VDO boost gauge with the column pod (http://www.namotorsports.net/detail....t_cd/NPTPB.014), I'm pretty happy with it. I'll snap some pics of that too. While I was at it I installed the multi function wiper arm for the trip computer mod (I got a pretty base package), but I need to get a hold of a CAN bus VAG-COM cable to enable it.

I got pulled over in it for the first time (in the A3) Wednesday night. [:@] Some dude in an Expedition cut me off in traffic and I had to lay on the brakes, so once the lane was clear I did what any normal, red-blooded American would do: I downshifted and blasted by him! Turns out it was a DOT officer. Said he clocked me at 70 (in a 45). Luckily he liked the car and let me off with a warning and a lecture.

I'm leaving tomorow for a two week trip to Europe, so my poor A3 is going to be sitting for a while. When I get back I'm probably going to install an Alpine iDA-X001 (http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=iDA-X001). I am dying without my iPod, and of course the stock unit has no aux jack and lacks the capability to read MP3 discs (or even CD Text for that matter [:@]). A Valentine 1 is also in my near future. Once I pass the first service at 5k miles, I will be looking into a chip tune. From there the list just goes on and on.

Well that about sums it up for me. What's everyone else been up to?

BTW, I thought you were on vacation Chef. Oh, and I love your car! You seem to have a similar taste in mods as I do, more performance-oriented and less bling. Kudos!

Yeah. Actually, I'm on vacation and surfing now for my latest mod motivation. I'm deciding between the Valentineone or the Bel STI for a detector. Then I want to install front radar jammers on both sides of the license plate. I figure that might be a good mod for me. Seems that both detectors are very good, with points going for and against both. Hmmm...

Cheers!

On my mod list is an APR II, rear sway bar (suggestions?), and 30% tint all around.I am also debating over getting a stand alone GPS unit or getting an after market head unit with GPS. What do you think? Hope your vacation is going well Chef!!!

The rear sway bar that most everyone that I know has is the Neuspeed. It has two different stiffness settings and I run on the firmest. You can get the back to break loose if you work REALLY hard. It basically evens out a lot of the understeer and gives a better feel around turns. Definitely a good mod.

Not sure about the GPS? I've looked at a lot of the stand alone units and haven't been convinced enough to purchase one. The indash are much more expensive and you can't take it with you into another vehicle if you have more than one. You're guess is as good as mine?

Cheers!

GIAC-X flash this coming weekend since my car was just in for 5K service and had the I3 TSB done.

Next up is probably Koni FSDs with my stock s-line sport springs and a RSB. With the crap roads and even crappier winters here in Omaha, there is no way I think I could lower my car without wrecking it.

In the futurea DP with a 200 cell hi-flo cat and more after these are done.

No, just keeping them at bay.

I'm feeling like my Irish luck has been pushed WAY over the top, and now it's time to get some back-up.

Cheers!

Hi All,

Well after some advice from the forum and a decent insurance quote from a nationwide wheel specialist i have purchased and am now driving an A3 DSG S-line, Lava Grey with black leather. Planning on getting a cd changer fitted next month from the garage (unless anyone can suggest an alternative cd changer).

My real question is, if i get my A3 chipped is there any other part of the engine i need to switch out or is the stress on the rest of it not increased that much, (im a newb to mechanics, as im an IT geek) I dont want to chipit and significantly reduce the life span of the car. I owned an 06 A3 2.0TDI previous and that was a great car, but nothing compared to this

Thanks in advance.
Mr Steve
