So....

1. Is it possible to have the 6-Disc Changer AND the iPod Integration Kit?

2. If I plug in my iPod and have it shuffle my 60+GB, 7000 song library, will it play? Will i be able to skip ahead with the steering wheel?

3. What are my brand options? What are the EXACT differences between the Audi kit and the third party kits?
Go look at the manufacturers' web sites. They are all very specific about the installation and operation of their respective kits. Most have the manual and installation pictures online, so you can see exactly how it's going to apply to your car.

I have to agree with Izzy. Take it to a shop that you trust and feel comfortable with. Explore your options on the web, so you can ask informed questions. As far as I know, Denison (i think its them) make a kit that is the 400. There is a switch mounted somewhere accesible that allows you to switch between the changer and the Ipod. I'll look it up, but its not cheap.
I have the Denison unit (with factory Nav/Sat/CD changer). It leaves in place the CD changer and adds a control unit for direct in by either iPod, 1/8" jack, or usb port. You can only have one accessory in use at a time. You switch between the CD changer and the control unit with and A/B switch. It's $400. I like it because it allows you to keep the CD changer, but there are a couple clunky things that get annoying, biggest of which is you have to A/B switch before the car is turned on, you can't switch on the fly. To switch after the car's been on you have to turn off the car for a minute or more... Install is also sort of tedious because the cables (which interrupt the CD changer to get sound into the system from the control unit) are the "ribbon" variety, meaning flat and wide. I put the control unit in the glove box so I could access it, which required drilling out (in an out-of-eyeshot spot at the back of the glove box, but still) a 1.5" wide, 1/4" tall slot to get the wiring from the back of the CD changer to the control unit. End result is yes, it works as advertised, but it's not a squeaky clean look in the glove box (lotsa wires running here and there). If you don't mind this, or the cost, this might be the way to go. As others have said the nav screen display mimics the CD changer, so disks 1-6 and tracks 1-99. On this unit CD 5 is all songs, 1-4 are you first 4 playlists (alpha) and CD 6 is supposed to be a menu to the iPod internals that should allow playing by artist, album, etc., but I've not gotten that to work. So the decision is do you want to keep your CD changer bad enough to spend $400. In the end I'm glad I did, though not without reservations and few bumps in the road.

Got mine from enfig (think it's the Gateway 300 or 400). Look it up and see what you think. I have some pictures floating around somewhere. When I find them I'll try and post.

Man $400 is steep - and who needs a CD changer if you have an ipod anyway? Buy a 2nd ipod instead if you need to

I'm looking for an ipod interface as well.
From what i understand, the Audi one is crap (they stopped selling it, didn't they?), Dice is good and I've heard Grom is good. Basically none of them give you artist and track, just track numbers and some of them allow you to control it from the ipod itself. I'm starting to look into aftermarket stereos, but I'm wondering about the steering wheel controls and whether the sound would truly be better than the stock stereo.

the jury's still out for me.

Answers:
1. It's one or the other with the DICE unit.

2. As I said in my post, you can use your steering wheel controls to fast forward or skip tracks.

3. DICE. I don't have the Audi unit so I can't answer that questions.

I'm selling my Dension ice>Link Plus for $120: http://forums.fourtitude.com/zerothread?id=3606778

Box says I20-AUDI-T2, but the sticker on back of part says I20-AUDI-R. Here's info for the R: http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsite_s...20_AUDI_R.html

Here's my setup:
-Bose Symphony II w/ in-dash CD changer
-Sirius
-NO CD changer in glovebox...this is what the IceLink Plus attaches to instead.
-Connected my Nano and leave it sitting in the glovebox.
-Control forward/reverse of tracks from steering wheel
-Radio only displays Track 1-99, but still plays beyond 99

Why is the DICE unit so much more expensive than the GROM one? They do EXACTLY the same thing.

for the stock Audi Ipod 99 song limit issue.
Make a playlist with all your songs on it. Load Ipod in car. Select playlist. Press mix CD. Problem solved :P

Once Mix CD is on all songs are selectedat random, although, I have not been in the car long enough to roll over from 99 back to 1 to see if song 1 is different then when it first played. But still even if it didn't 99 random songs at an average of 2.5min per song is about 4 hours and 15 min of music. How often are you in the car for more then4 hours at a time?Last thing though with this, each time you start the car song one will be the same (1st song on play list) but all other songs will be different then the last time you were in the car since it selects at random.

actually. now that I played around with my car today on the road. If you have more then 99 songs in a play list it just rolls over from 99 to 1 but its really going to 100 and so on. So 99 is just the highest number it can display not the limit of songs available per playlist.
