metallic rattling
hi all,
its been a while since ive have a metallic rattle under the front passenger seat. went away during the summer for a bit and now its back. It sounds like the metal "flashing" or that silver sheet metal under the car is rattling due to the exhaust note at lower rpms? usually happens when its cold and in between 1200-1500rpms in first, second and occasionaly 3rd gear. I have a dp and exhaust installed would that be the problem but its all the way on the front right side of the car. or is it the fuel line rattle which i've heard about so much.
thanks!

If the metallic rattling happened at idle, I would say it was the fuel line.
With a DP and Exhaust installed and the metallic rattling usually happening at the rpms listed, I would say something in the exhaust system is loose. As soon as the exhaust system heats up, it sounds like the metallic rattling goes away "for the most part," which is another indication that something in the exhaust system is loose.

rattling
i was wondering if its the dp and exhaust but the sound seems to come from under the front passenger side and the dp and exhaust comes down almost at the center right?i should also add that i meant when the weather is cold it tends to rattle more. rattling still occurs after car is warmed up. also rattle doesnt occur when i rev the engine when stationary, however i tried revving once with breaks applied coz i was checking if my a3 had launch control and it rattled like a bitch at the same place under the front passenger seat. what could this be? its driving me nuts. im gonna bring it into the dealer soon but any additional info would be great.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

Your symptoms sound exactly like the fuel line rattle, described and fixed (very easily) in this blog:
