Right then. An update.

I got the armrest and grille/surround yesterday. Got the armrest fitted this afternoon and I have to say I'm quite impressed with my handiwork. Usually me and powertools don't really get on but apart from a couple of head scratching moments I got the job done. About an hour from start to finish

More importantly I received the new Bluefin handset today so I installed that after I'd finished the armrest. To speed things up Superchips had taken the required info off my faulty unit and preloaded the performance map too. Basically I just had to plug it in. I haven't had that much of a chance to give it a good workout but initial reaction is 'mmmmmmm........'. The car behaves very well around town but over about 3k revs it just pulls and pulls. Very linear power delivery too. I'm impressed.

I'll keep you posted.

I'm not familiar with the Bluefin. Can you now adjust the boost, fueling, and timing of the ECU with the Bluefin and your PC? That's an option I stopped short of purchasing with my REVO chip, but now almost wish I had. It would be neat to be able to adjust the numbers for various octane levels and performance, then log your car for results.

Cheers!

No it's not adjustable. They will provide you with upgrades should they tweak the 2.0 T FSI map but that's about it for now. TBH back in the day I did have Revo on my 1.8T and I did get myself the SPS3 but it was a bit of a waste as far as I was concerned. I found a happy medium for timing and boost and just left it at that. I'm not one for logging with Vagcom but I know plenty who are. Once in a blue moon I might alter the settings but that wouldonly be for the odd RR day or whatever. After the Revo I got Custom Code (UK based tuner) and again it was tweakable but I just didn't bother. The tuner set my car up and I was more than happy. Unlike eg the Revo SPS units, the Bluefin stores your standard and performance maps. Think of it like a USB flash drive, you can quickly load one or the other for instance if you need to visit your local stealer. The other thing that I liked was that it stored a copy of your original map not a version of.

I think I will question them on Saturday about fuelling though. I run exclusively on Shell V-Power which is rated at 99 RON and I do wonder if the map is written to take into account those who may not be quite so fussy. Superchips seem to have really upped their game in the last couple of years and allowing a certain degree of 'suggestion' from the customer now seems to be their thing. I'll let you know.

Have a look at the Bluefin link I posted above. To fill you in a little more, Superchips are the official tuner to VW Racing UK. In fact they're only a couple of miles down the road from VAG's UK headquarters in Milton Keynes.

Update #whatever...

The grille and surround are on. But I'm still waiting for the number plate plinth/mount. Even so, it does look good I'm not posting pics until I've got the whole job done though. A word of warning if you didn't already know. The bumper does have to come off. There are clips all the way around apart from two screws about level with the number plate. Damn Audi and the whole over-engineering thing...

I also enjoyed myself at the Superchips open day. The standard torque graph is a little erratic which I don't believe for a minute but the main concern is the slight plateau on the bhp around 5.5k revs. Well I say it's a concern but TBH when am I at 5.5k revs? Anyway, Superchips have come across this before and it appears to be a fuelling issue which they will investigate and if they solve it with hardware or software they'll let me know.

Comments?

Nice power.
I like to think it's fairly accurate. There are so many silly claims about it's like the 1.8T scene all over again. And I'm too old to get into the whole numbers/mine's bigger than yours thing. Seen it, done it, bought the t-shirt. I wanted to see what the power delivery was like and really the graphs tell me what I wanted to know.

Off topic. What time is it there? Are you always online? lol

Your last post was at 1:51pm my time. You go figure the hour change, I think it's something like 8 hours? I'm online more than I should be, with work and all, but I'm an Audi Mod addict. I gotta keep up with my British Brothers!

Cheers!

Hmm. Try again.

So what do think? The car, not my photography skills...
