Maybe they sent you my old one?

Ask for a guy called Simon Yates. He's the 'Senior Development Engineer' apparently and was pretty on the ball when I had my teething problems.

[:@] I did wonder - I even eyed up the screws to see if this one had been opened for a repair..

Anyway - I spoke to a lad named Jo this morning and he got around the problem by emailing the file to me. There's an option in the desktop tool to read the map from a local file and send it to the Bluefin - which then successfully updated my car.

It's pretty impressive isn't it? I reckon it must produce 15hp just at idle now . There's a bit more turbo lag after some of the upshifts (3-4 most noticelable) and this may be down to the way the DSG logic interferes with the throttle. Small price to pay for all that extra go though!

Really impressed with Superchips as well - I know it didn't go as smoothly as it should have done, but I always think it's what a company will do to fix the problem that's more important - and their response was instant (and effective...)

I'm glad you like it. I had a rather spirited drive over the A57 Snake Pass today and it certainly made me grin!

My thoughts exactly.

I'm in Sheffield. As I said, I had a trip over the Snake today so I was (sort of) over your way. While I was in the area my car developed this fault. It pulled really badly to the left and off the M60, then it pulled badly to the left again and onto the A57, things seemed to be OK then it pulled left and right a few times and before I knew it I was in the car park at AwesomeGTI. What are the chances of that? Anyway, the only fault they could find was that I wasn't using a K&N air filter. Luckily they had one in stock and the car drove perfectly all the way back to Sheffield. Who would have thought it?

LOL

All we're missing is some Monty Python and I'd be glued to the screen all day!

Cheers!

Near Northwich, Cheshire - just down the road (for values of "road" like "M6" anyway :P)

Too many beers at the pub and a wild drive home, or did you leave your lady sitting on the road all night for any punk to come and abuse her?

That really sucks!

To be completely honest, those pics were taken after I'd given the car a wash.

I'd run a few errands this morning, one of which involved using a car park in town. After that I went up to the parent's house to say 'Hi' and wash the car and that's what I saw as I emerged from the garage bucket in hand. Certainly wasn't there yesterday so obviously some idiot had completely misjudged when they left the space next to me. You've seen pictures of European cars Chef. We're not talking El Dorados here. How ******* hard can it be to pull out of a space without going all down the side of the car next to you?

Anyway, the A3 is back outside my house now and I've got the whole 'joy of quotes' thing to look forward to tomorrow.

Not wanting to play up to any national stereotypes here but right now I guess if I was American I'd be sitting on the porch, in my old rocking chair, a bottle of Jack by my side and a shotgun in my lap.

Bastards.

:edit: Something's cheered me up. I appear to have two stars next to my name. That's got to be good surely?

I've never had good luck with car parks. I had my old Passat come out of a shop in San Francisco and didn't notice the fat scrap marks on the bumper until later. I get very nervous letting anyone take my car and park it for me now. They are making parking lot spaces much smaller here now too so all of the big American SUVs doors miss the side molding protection and dig straight into the metal. I have a lot of marks on the other car, but I'm much more careful where I park the Audi.
