I would choose the silver one, seeing where your from, don't know how the open sky would hold up. Plus, wish I had s-line

 

Yup, very hard decision. The 06 has all the options I want in terms of HID, Bose, Open Sky, and Home Link (convenience?). I really like the HID. My last two cars have/had it. Unfortunately it does not have the cold weather package which would be good to have. The siliver 07 with no Open Sky does have S-Line package and that is pretty much it. It does look hot though. I did notice that it got very hot in the car because the shades in the Open Sky does not block out all of the light. The other 07 that is black also looks good and has Open Sky.

To answer Swaynest, we just love how smooth it drove and we love the way Audis look. The A3 is going to be our runner car. It is zippier/sportier and even has great gas mileage. My wife had an 05 Mazda3 which she said was gutless so here we are looking at something else.

Oh, all 3 cars are at dealerships. I think all of them are not Audi dealerships. They all have the 5 day money back and basically what's left on the Manufacturer warranty through Audi

 

I was not able to confirm but living in Florida, I can tell you that I am not impressed with the AC on the A3. A couple of weeks ago with 90+ degrees temperature and 3 people in the car, it took close to 15 minutes for the temperature to be OK -at best. I am convinced that the air flow of the Opensky may help this. Like I said, I was not able to confirm this and if anyone can shade some light on this I would appreciate. The service person at my local dealership basically told me to run the AC at full speed. Solution is easy, a sunscreen helps a lot. No way this little inconvenience is going to deter me from my A3!
Since you are mostly interest in a Cold package, it may not be the most important for you. Just thought Iwould share.

BTW, my wife has a Mazda6s, I had a downpayment on a MazdaSpeed3 for 6 months when they finally told me it will take another month to see the car and the lease on my oprevious car was up and found myself carless. I drove the A3 and the deal was done in less than 1 hour. Although I was losing power, torque, 1 sec to 60mph, the Audi is just a better all around car.

Thanks Olivier. Oh, my other concern was the difference between 06 and 07 models. I was afraid that there my be some problems that was fixed in the newer model. I hope not. I have decided to go with the 06 which has almost every option I want except for the Bluetooth and cold weather package. I will miss the compass since my Murano that I traded in for the A4 Avant and the Avant has the compass and auto dimming mirror. Other than that, I am very excited to go pick up the A3. I am flying to Vegas to pick it up the 15th and driving it home back to Colorado.

 

I also live in Florida, my previous car was black, with a sunroof, and took a while to get cool. so I went for the white A3, no open sky. This has helped the "cool down" alot. I like the white, but my wife hates it,says it looks like a company car.

 

I have an 06 purchased Oct 05, I have had no problems with it. it's a base model, so there are fewer things to go wrong. I am upgrading it but very slowly ( wife thinks if it's new don't touch it! ) I haven't heard of any major problems with 06 vs. 07. Does the free maintainance transfer with the warranty? That is one advantage the 06 had. I would sugjest you take it to an Audi dealership and make sure the software upgrades have been done. You may well prefer the A3 to your A4, I have relitives with an A6 and an A4 s-line, and I much prefer driving my A3. Good Luck with your Audis

 

I suspect the unimpressive AC performance is unique to 2006 model year and/or 2.0T...I know Audi switched compressor manufacturers at some point recently, and my 07 3.2 cools off fairly quickly. NC has had 90+ temperature AND humidity for the past week. Of course it's also helped to have tinted windows and Open Sky.

 

Jnikom - I believe that the auto dimming mirror is only available on the 3.2 '08 model. Maybe it is another 3.2 only thing… They have to justify the price somewhere. If you have the Nav system, who needs a compass???? BTW, did you make certain that the service was done at 5K, 15K. Also Doesn’t DSG have to have a revision at 30K which cost a pretty penny? I have a MT, so I am not certain but I thought I read something somewhere.

drumdork03 - I do have a 2.0T, it is an ’07 – maybe I am just unlucky…Do tinted windows make a significant change or just noticeable? I am just curious. Because of the heat / humidity and lack of good professionals, I am probably going back to the dealer to get it done there. Too many people locally have had problems. BTW, I would be grinning too if I had your car!

I'm honestly not sure how effective the tint is for heat reduction, as this is my first car with a sunroof and tint, and I got it done in the winter. All I can compare it to is my WRX. It was white, solid roof, no tint, black interior. Audi is silver, black interior, tinted with 38% all theway around and 20% on top..it's maybe 5-10 degrees cooler in the same summer weather.

The bad part is if you have nav or satellite radio you have to shell out the $$ for the ceramic tint...it's a bitpricier than the metal-based stuff that's more common.
