Oil changing question?
Hey everyone,
I have just bought an 06 audi a3 2.0t with 35k and i was talking to a buddy of mine, he said that the intervals for oil changes (12k) i believe is way to long, if thats the case how often do you change your oil? also what type of oil are you guys using? what the manual says or something different?

5000 miles is pretty safe, although you are likely to have to add before that. I had my last change of Mobil 1 tested by Blackstone Labs, who suggested that I could extend that oil to 6250 miles in my use.
Oil must be synthetic. Mobil 1 0W-40 and Castrol 5W-40 Synthetic are popular and readily available. Both are VW 502.00 approved, which is important for warranty purposes. That rules out Amsoil, Royal Purple and Redline, which are all fine oils too. Haven't checked if the new Valvoline full synthetic is VW-approved in that weight.
