P0299, Blown Turbo?
I recently purchased a used 2006 Audi A3 2.0T with 61,000 miles on it. Within one week of owning the car, the check engine light came on. It is a P0299 code. I just brought it to the dealer I purchased the car from and after three hours of diagnosing it they concluded that it was a bad turbo and it would cost around $2,000 to fix it.
The car is running fine at all speeds and RPM's and nothing unusual like smoke out of the exhaust or weird smells.
I was wondering if this could actually be a blown turbo and if so, does $2,000 seem about right for a dealer to replace the turbo?
Thanks for helping a new to Audi owner.

It could be just a leak in the intake system. Personally I would take it somewhere else for a second opinion.
In my experience of turbos they either produce full boost or they do very little having completely failed. If you can feel the turbo spooling up still then its unlikely to be a failed turbo IMO (assuming one of the pipes from the turbo hasnt popped off, which would result in a badly running engine)
If the turbo is blown then 2k is probably about right. Alternatively go to a reputable back street garage and have them fit a reconditioned turbo. This should cost quite a bit less and will be as good as new.
